Freedom Under Construction 2010

In 2010, Freedom Under Construction is making an attempt to involve more people in nation building. Not just through construction activities, but through other events that can take India a step closer to our dream nation.

We are hoping to inspire a total of 153 nation building events this year. Why 153? Since it is 153 years from the first freedom revolt in 1857.

There are 3 kinds of events

1. Large group events

  1. Construction activity on August 14th and 15th. Toilets are being constructed by citizens in government school bathrooms as part of Project D.E.S.H 1000.
  2. The longest human chain on August 14th. All volunteers will gather at one location to express solidarity and take a pledge at the midnight hour.
  3. The Freedom Film Festival
  4. Lake Cleaning
  5. Hospital Sanitation Drive
Few among the events are tentative and would be carried only in case we are able to mobilize resources.

I want to contribute

I want to find out about sponsorship opportunities

2. Joint events with organisations and groups

  1. Schools and companies can opt from a menu of options of nation building activities, and celebrate independence meaningfully, building a sense of ownership and community.
  2. Common interest groups can associate with FuC and create enjoyable nation building events. For eg: A walkers group can help clean up their neighbourhood park. A motorcycle club can volunteer to give lifts to people on a particular day.

Let’s do a joint event

3. Individual initiatives

Any citizen can take up an initiative and celebrate independence. Any kind of activity that builds the country is welcome. For example, one can involve their family or friends to cook a meal and serve others. Or one can initiate a freedom photo contest on Facebook.

    The sky is the limit!

I want to start an individual event
